WE WILL BE OPENING THIS SEASON! Shawns pumpkin patch will be opening, but there will be changes to account for COVID-19 and ensure the safety of both our customers as well as employees. Our smaller location will be the only one opening this year: 3443 S Sepulveda Blvd Activities this year: Train rides, Petting zoo, free mini straw maze, sand art, and some carnival games. (Ponies are still to be determined). *Expect longer wait times, as we will have a maximum capacity of guests at a time to comply with CDC rules* We hope to have a great Halloween season in this unusual year, and see all of our customers again! MASKS ARE REQUIRED TO ENTER!

Happy Saturday! Megan, our interpretation intern, is excited to introduce you to our second invertebrate feature as part of the #YourOutdoors campaign. This is one you are most likely familiar with – the Monarch butterfly! This is yet another species that can be found through Colorado. Monarch butterflies can also be found migrating all the way from Canada to Mexico during the summer and early fall. Megan found this one at her local garden in Fort Collins, and we'll most likely see more through September as migration progresses! If you are looking for monarchs in your area a good place to check is their host milkweed plant. This plant is poisonous, although monarch caterpillars store this poison in their body as a defence mechanism against predators. Consuming a poisonous caterpillar could cause a predator to vomit when eaten but rarely causes death.
